Institute economist Marta Lachowska and senior economist Stephen Woodbury (along with Merve Meral of UMass Dartmouth) have authored a paper that appears in the August 2016 issue of Labour Economics. Titled "Effects of the unemployment insurance work test on long-term employment outcomes," the paper shows that the work test may be helpful for improving the reemployment prospects of lower-wage, permanent job losers.
This paper is based on a report by the same authors for the U.S. Department of Labor titled "The Effects of Eliminating the Work Search Requirement on Job Match Quality and Other Long-Term Employment Outcomes."
