Morris Kleiner, University of Minnesota Humphrey School Professor of Public Affairs and Upjohn Institute visiting scholar, will be honored this weekend by the National Labor and Employment Relations Association (LERA) for his lifetime of work in the field of human resources and the employment relationship.
As one of this year’s four inductees into the group’s Association of Fellows, Kleiner joins leading scholars in LERA’s "Hall of Fame" from Princeton, MIT, Harvard, Cornell, and Stanford. The award will be presented at LERA’s annual conference in Minneapolis on May 28th, 2016.
Kleiner, who has been at the University of Minnesota for 28 years, has spent his career studying the role of institutions in the labor market and factors and incentives that influence productivity. He is best known for his work on occupational licensing and his latest book for Upjohn Press is entitled Guild-Ridden Labor Markets: The Curious Case of Occupational Licensing published in 2015.
Kleiner has also been the recipient of the Humphrey Medal for his outstanding teaching at the Humphrey School.
