Promise Programs Database

How To Use This Database

You can use this database to:

  • Browse all programs (select Browse All)
  • Look up individual programs by searching for keywords (select Search)
  • Filter programs by a variety of characteristics (including location, year established, source of scholarship funding, type of community served, etc.) When choosing filters, use CTRL-click to select multiple values within each category (select Apply Filters).

Viewing Your Results

After filters are applied, all programs that meet the search requirements are displayed under the Program Summary tab. Individual programs can be compared side-by-side by checking the box of each program of interest and then viewed by selecting the Program Compare tab. You can also view the promise programs by location. Under the Program Location tab, the map feature allows you to browse programs by location.

Comments and Questions

The interactive version here contains only a limited number of fields due to space reasons. The full Promise Database, which includes additional details about each program, is available as an Excel file for research purposes, and a comprehensive list of variables covered and their definitions can be accessed here.

For any questions or concerns not addressed by the FAQ, or to request a copy of the full database, please contact the W.E. Upjohn Institute at promisedatabase@upjohn.org.
